Breaking the Chitin Barrier
Fungal cell walls are made of Chitin, a material the human digestive system cannot easily break down, therefore Tinctures, specifically dual and better still, our Triple Extraction method, breaks these walls to release the bio active compounds for absorption. Freeze -drying allows for 90-97% nutritional and bioactive preservation, alcohol extracts the alcohol soluble compounds (triterpenes), while hot water extracts the water soluble compounds (polysaccharides/beta-glucans). The highest concentration of active compounds is generally found in the fruiting body (the actual mushroom), this is why we only ever use 100% fruiting body in our tinctures.

Concentration & Standardisation
Tinctures provide a concentrated, standardised and consistent dose of compounds compared to eating raw mushrooms, allowing for better, more predictable therapeutic effects. Furthermore the liquid form of Tinctures allow our bodies to absorb quickly and efficiently.

Polysaccharides
Mushroom polysaccharides (also known as beta-glucans) are complex carbohydrates found within the cell walls of the fungi, offering potential potent immune boosting, anti-oxidant, anti-tumour, and prebiotic effects. These medicinal compounds can promote gut health, improved metabolic, cardiovascular and cognitive functions.
Polysaccharides are non digestible, however, by using our Triple Extraction method, we are able to make them more bioavailable.
Triterpenes
Mushroom Triterpenes (or triterpenoids) are specialised bioactive compounds known for their potent protective properties. Studies have indicated that Triterpenes not only support immunity, Liver protection, cognitive function and cardiovascular health; they also have antiviral and antimicrobial properties.
Because Triterpenes are lipid soluble, they require alcohol based extraction to prove effective.
