Old Friends Fungi Farm is a small, independent mushroom farm, built from the ground up. Based in West Oxfordshire, our work began with a simple fascination for fungi — how they grow, how they interact in their habitats, and how they have healed and fed humans for thousands of years.

Our name is inspired by the Old Friends Hypothesis, a scientific idea proposing that humans co-evolved alongside a huge community of microbes — organisms found in soil, plants, and natural ecosystems,  therefore, exposure to these microbial companions help train and regulate our immune systems.

Much of what we do started in a DIY spirit: learning cultivation by doing it ourselves, experimenting with different species, and slowly developing our own small-scale systems. This hands-on curiosity still shapes everything we do and produce today.
